On April 13th, 2023, 11-year-old Lacey Hoffmaster was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the road in a crosswalk near her home. Lacey was fortunate enough to not have many life-threatening injuries, but Lacey is one of the lucky ones. This fundraiser is to help get startup funding for a pedestrian safety program locally in Owatonna, MN and the surrounding area. The goal of Pedestrian Patrol is to educate both drivers and pedestrians on the laws surrounding pedestrian safety, and provide safety tips as well as statistics about accidents and how safety education can change those numbers for the better. But don’t let the name fool you- this program is for everyone, not just pedestrians! We all share the same roadways. Being aware of your surroundings can help prevent accidents like Lacey’s.
