About this fundraiser

I have been asked multiple times by several different people to make this fundraiser and my answer has been the same each time: I appreciate the concern and wish to help me, but I know my consistent struggles and need lately have drained on my social goodwill. There is only so much vulnerability you can share and so much anguish people can express sympathy for before it becomes too much and they tune out. I have spent my entire life in poverty, I know how this works.

Well, the day is here.

I am reaching out to you in a time of desperation and hopelessness after losing my 15-year-old son Larry to suicide on February 8th, 2022. That tragic night will forever haunt me, as I found him on the side of the house, lifeless and lost. Following this devastating loss, my 17-year-old son Maleek found himself in a situation where he had to defend himself and ended up facing charges of attempted murder, leaving him behind bars.

With my daughter MaKayla deciding to leave and move to Louisiana, I find myself alone with my youngest son Daniel, struggling to make ends meet and find a place to call home. The house where the tragedy occurred has now turned me away, leaving me with no roof over my head and no support system to lean on.

I am not ashamed to admit that I am in desperate need of help. I am lost, grieving, and at a loss for how to continue forward. I am reaching out to you in the hopes that you can provide us with assistance in finding a new place to stay and getting back on our feet. Any support or guidance you can offer will be greatly appreciated and will make a world of difference in our lives.

Thank you for taking the time to read my plea for help. I am hopeful that with your support, we can navigate through this difficult time and find a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness that surrounds us.

Sincerely,
