Help Me and My Son Rebuild: A Fresh Start from Shelter to Stability

Hi, my name is Courtney and I’m writing this from a place I never thought I’d be—from inside a shelter, with my son by my side, trying to rebuild our lives from the ground up. I recently escaped an abusive relationship that left me with nothing but the will to survive and protect my child. Leaving EVERYTHING was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but I did it—for me, and for him. Now we’re in a shelter. It’s safe, but it’s not home. I’m doing everything I can to stay strong, focused, and faithful. I’m not asking for pity, and I’m not asking for a handout—I’m asking for a hand up. A chance to build a new life. A fresh start.
What We Need:

• A Stable Place to Stay: A permanent, safe home where my son and I can heal and grow.
• A Reliable Car: So I can get to work, school, and take care of my son’s needs.
• Basic Support: Funds for food, clothes, hygiene items, and a phone to apply for jobs and stay connected.
• Education & Empowerment: I want to go back to school to study social work. I’ve lived through trauma and survival, and I want to use my story to help others find hope and healing.

• My son is incredibly smart and driven—he wants to go to college, and I want nothing more than to support him in that dream. Every step I take right now is not just about surviving today, but about creating a future where he has the opportunity to succeed. I want to show him that no matter how hard life gets, we can rise—and that with hard work and support, anything is possible.

Why This Means So Much:

This isn’t easy to share. It’s painful to admit that I need help. But I’m doing it because I know I’m not alone—and maybe someone reading this understands.
