Hello everyone, my name is Alyssa Carpenter me and my fiancée Iverson Pierre are currently in the process of relocating due to our unborn son having a birth defect that is very life threatening at birth called congenital diaphragmatic hernia. The condition is causing the babies organs from his stomach to migrate to the top half of his diaphragm. With the other organs migrating to his chest cavity it is causing his lungs to be restricted to grow properly and develop. When he is born he will have to be intubated immediately and have a surgery within the first couple days of life. The baby could need Ecmo which is basically life support to help the baby’s body to rest until he can heal, it supports heart and lung functions. The baby has to be delivered at children’s hospital of Philadelphia. We are not only relocating ourselves but our other three children as well who are ages 2, 3 and 6. The baby will be in the hospital for a few months of his life. Any help would be greatly appreciated as we navigate through this process and try to get established in our new home in Philadelphia. The baby is due April 30th but we have to be in Philadelphia by march 5th because they need me close to the hospital just in case they need to take the baby early. He will have to be delivered by c section to prevent any further complications as it is the safest way for him to come into this world with the condition at hand.
