My family and 2 teenagers would greatly appreciate any help. We would use it towards our mortgage and fix our car so we can go to work.

To Whom It May Concern:
RE: Hardship Letter and Request for Mortgage Assistance
I am writing to explain the financial hardships my family and I have experienced over the past several years and to respectfully request your consideration for a loan modification or any other mortgage assistance options that may help me save my home.
My home is extremely important to me and my family. Despite the many challenges we have faced, I have continued to do everything I can to keep moving forward, maintain our household, and meet my responsibilities. I am asking for an opportunity to work with you to find a solution that will allow me to keep my home and get back on more stable financial footing.
Over the past several years, I have experienced numerous personal, medical, and financial hardships. I have endured the loss of family members and a battle with breast cancer. By the grace of God, I have now been cancer-free for one year. Although I am thankful for my recovery, I still require follow-up appointments and medical monitoring every six months.
During this time, I also experienced difficulties maintaining health insurance. Because of income eligibility requirements, there were periods when I made too much to qualify for assistance but not enough to comfortably manage all my expenses. These circumstances added to the financial strain I was already experiencing and made it difficult to remain consistent with my financial obligations.
In addition to these challenges, I have faced ongoing transportation problems that have affected my ability to work and maintain financial stability. My work requires me to travel, making dependable transportation essential. Unfortunately, our vehicle has experienced repeated mechanical problems that have created significant and unexpected expenses.
When our vehicle was unreliable, we sometimes had to rent cars to ensure I could get to work. However, the rental costs became difficult to manage, especially when work slowed down. When work picked up again, much of the money we earned had already gone toward rental expenses and other necessary bills. This left us struggling to keep up with our financial responsibilities.
To avoid the continued expense of renting vehicles, I began working on our car myself whenever possible. I have done my best to repair it and purchase the necessary parts as money became available. The vehicle had a serious alignment problem that caused us to go through tires very quickly. We purchased numerous used tires simply to keep the car on the road and allow me to continue working.
We experienced repeated flat tires, including one while coming out of the tunnel between Hampton and Virginia Beach. I had to change the tire myself because there was no one available to help. My wife was with me, but she did not know how to change a tire. On several occasions, we became stranded on the side of the highway late at night while returning home from work. We took those chances because I was trying to earn money and keep our household going.
At one point, even our temporary spare tire developed a hole. I was able to repair it enough to get us to a gas station, but after being used so many times, it is now in poor condition.
These vehicle problems have taken a tremendous amount of time, money, and energy to address. Shortly after my breast cancer surgery, I was still dealing with transportation difficulties while trying to recover and manage my responsibilities. Over time, I have had to replace the struts, rack and pinion, and axles. I had also replaced the control arms and tie rod ends. Because of the financial strain, I could not afford to complete every repair at once, so I had to work on the vehicle as money became available.
Thankfully, within the past two months, we were finally able to purchase new tires and have the alignment corrected. I thought we were getting close to having the vehicle back in dependable condition and being able to have it inspected. Unfortunately, we continued to experience power steering problems. I replaced the rack and pinion and the power steering intermediate shaft, and I recently received a torque sensor that I still need to install.
Just when I thought we were making progress, another problem arose. A warning light came on in the vehicle, and when it remained illuminated, I had the car checked. I learned that the alternator had failed. As I write this letter, I am trying to locate an affordable replacement so I can get the vehicle running again. The torque sensor I had been waiting for arrived just as I was removing the alternator.
It feels as though every time I get close to resolving one problem, another unexpected expense comes along. I have continued to do as much of the repair work myself as possible because I am trying to save money wherever I can. However, these repeated setbacks have made it increasingly difficult to manage all of our financial obligations.
We are also trying to purchase a dependable vehicle because reliable transportation is one of our greatest needs. Unfortunately, this has been difficult because of our bankruptcy and credit situation. We are trying to find a vehicle that we can afford, but our current financial circumstances and credit challenges have made it difficult to secure dependable transportation.
This has become a difficult cycle. We need a reliable vehicle so I can continue working and earning income to support my family, but the repeated repairs, rental expenses, and other unexpected costs have made it harder to save money toward purchasing one. We are doing our best to find an affordable, long-term solution while continuing to manage our existing financial responsibilities.
On top of these transportation expenses, our refrigerator stopped working a few weeks ago. We have been relying on our deep freezer while trying to manage this additional unexpected household expense.
I am sharing these details to explain the circumstances that have contributed to my financial hardship. I am not making excuses or trying to avoid my responsibilities. I have been doing everything I can to continue working, maintain transportation, address necessary repairs, and keep our household functioning. Unfortunately, the combination of medical challenges, personal losses, vehicle repairs, and unexpected household expenses has placed an enormous strain on our finances.
Another important reason I am fighting so hard to save my home is my family. I have two teenagers living at home who depend on me to provide a stable place for them to live. One is 14 years old, and the other is graduating from high school this year and preparing to attend college. He has worked hard, has his plans in place, and is looking forward to taking this important next step toward his future.
As a parent, I want to provide my children with stability and the opportunity to continue working toward their goals, even while our family is facing these difficult circumstances. The thought of losing our home during such an important time in their lives is heartbreaking. I want my younger child to continue growing up in a stable environment, and I want my graduating child to be able to focus on his education and future as he prepares for college.
Despite everything we have experienced, I have not given up. I continue to look for ways to resolve our problems, reduce expenses, and improve our financial situation. I am also working with my attorney to address my mortgage circumstances and explore a way forward.
I am reaching out to you because I sincerely want to understand what options may be available to help me save my home. I respectfully ask that you review my hardship packet and consider me for a loan modification, repayment arrangement, or any other loss-mitigation assistance for which I may qualify. I am open to exploring all available options that could help me address my mortgage arrears and establish a manageable path forward.
My goal is to find a realistic solution that will allow me to keep my home while working toward greater financial stability and meeting my mortgage obligations. I am willing to cooperate with you, provide any additional documentation needed, and work toward an arrangement that takes my circumstances into consideration.
Losing my home would be devastating to me and my family. After everything we have endured, I am trying to hold on to the stability and security that our home provides. I understand the seriousness of my situation, and I am asking for an opportunity to work through these hardships rather than lose the home I have been fighting so hard to keep.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and review my hardship packet. I sincerely hope you will consider the circumstances I have described and work with me to explore every available option that could help me save my home.
I would be truly grateful for any assistance, consideration, or opportunity you can provide. My hope is that we can find a workable solution that will allow my family to remain in our home while I continue doing everything possible to improve our financial circumstances.
Thank you for your time, understanding, and consideration.
Sincerely,
Paula
