I am reaching out to friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
Right now a fellow human is facing the weight of a life many of us could not even begin to fathom. Easy as it may be to excuse the needs of someone in a situation we don't understand or want to justify with how much worse they could have it, I ask for a moment of true humanity.
This is to raise funds for a woman who after 18 years of marriage had her entire world changed in less than an instant. An innocent trip to the store by her husband ended with her becoming widowed, and now a single mother. No one could of been prepared that day for the randomness of a diabetic coma striking seconds before what could of been his safe arrival home. As anyone knows that has been touched by the cold hand of grief, or the heavy weight of being a single mother she was never given the much needed reprieve to work through what life had so cruelly laid into her lap.
Instead she stood up on shaky legs and time after time it seemed that life would let her believe she was going to stand, only to take her back down with one blow or another. She saved up for what many would say was a junker, she was humble enough to be happy to finally have a car. That car meant the freedom to tell a boss she could be counted on to make it to work, it represented independence. Yet like so many things before, it proved to be way to short lived.
Through one struggle after another, shoveling snow for donations, cleaning yards filled with poison ivy, she always tried to maintain an attitude and actual belief that life will get better just keep doing right. Life finally seemed to loosen it's grip on keeping her down, she found a place that she could call her own. Granted it wasn't much but it was a place she could actually say was fully her own. It was a camper, what most would say is nothing more than a weekender thing. But for her it was a safety, a tangible thing that meant actually being free from the dependence she had had been forced into having on so many others. Many of which did not have her best intentions driving them even from the start. No dollar amount can truly replace what it feels like to know you have a home of your own.
I am reaching out to those who just might be moved to take the time to read her story because she has been a deer friend when I have also faced challenges in life. Because we all face challenges in life! She finds herself in a position once again to have no stability, no one to trust, and legs so worn out from all the times she has forced herself to get back up once again. We can all relate! Please give whatever you can to help a fellow human who has faced similar problems to everyone else, help her to stand back up once more time by helping her have one of the most basic human needs met, a place to lay her head at night, for where we lay our heads is home!
