About this fundraiser

In June and July 2018, I underwent emergency open heart surgery, which involved a tricuspid valve replacement and pacemaker placement. Unfortunately, the surgery was complicated by liver and kidney failure, double pneumonia, and a lung infection from contaminated hospital equipment. Since then, I’ve experienced numerous complications, including the incorrect size valve being implanted despite my medical history and imaging, which led to tricuspid stenosis. Additionally, my pacemaker malfunctioned for over a year, with its battery draining unexpectedly without any alerts, a highly unusual occurrence. In June 2023, I had emergency surgery to replace the battery, but just a year later, in June 2024, my pacemaker and heart stopped again, requiring hospitalization and presenting new complications.

Now, due to these ongoing issues, I need a second open heart surgery on January 22, 2025, to replace the valve and have a new epicardial pacemaker implanted directly over my heart. My pacemaker’s battery life has drastically decreased due to the nature of my heart failure, which forces the battery to work harder and drain faster. The wires are also causing nerve issues, leading to painful and disruptive symptoms.

I’ve been unable to work full-time and had to stop working completely since September as I waited for the necessary approvals and information for my surgery. Unfortunately, the delay in obtaining my medical records from my previous surgical team has caused significant financial strain. It took five months to sort out the details, and now, with surgery just days away, I am in urgent need of financial assistance.

I am asking for help to cover my insurance premiums and deductibles, as well as to support me during my recovery, which will prevent me from working for several months. Any donation, no matter how small, would make a tremendous difference during this challenging time. Thank you for your kindness and support.
