In June 2024, our family suffered a heartbreaking loss when my Nanny, Peggy, lost her husband of many years, Pop. At 80 years old, she suddenly found herself navigating life without her partner, her support system, and her constant companion.

Since his passing, my Nanny’s health has declined significantly. She has experienced multiple falls, several hospitalizations, and now requires 24 hour care to remain safe. Simple daily tasks that were once manageable have become overwhelming and, at times, dangerous.

Despite her growing needs, she does not qualify for government assistance, and the care she requires is not covered by insurance because it is considered custodial rather than medical care. She has already been forced to sell her car and now faces the devastating possibility of selling her home, the place filled with memories of her life with Pop, simply to afford the care she needs.

Our family is doing everything we can to keep her at home, where she is most comfortable and at peace. Being surrounded by familiar spaces and loved ones has made a meaningful difference in her well being.

Unfortunately, the cost of 24 hour in home care, along with basic living expenses, is more than our family can manage alone. This fundraiser was created to help ensure my Nanny can remain safe, dignified, and at home.
