Back in April, life changed in an instant. I came home from work, stepped on my son’s skateboard by the door, and was thrown into the wall, hitting my head hard. I ended up in the ER, where scans showed I didn’t have a brain bleed or broken neck, but I was diagnosed with a severe concussion and traumatic brain injury. For over a month, I could hardly talk, walk, or process information — I spent most of that time resting in bed, unable to work or function normally.
During my follow-up care, doctors discovered a thyroid nodule. After more tests and appointments, I underwent surgery in August to remove my right thyroid lobe and isthmus. The mass turned out to be a 4.7 cm cancerous tumor. Thankfully, my surgeon was able to remove it all. While I am grateful the cancer was caught and removed, recovery has been challenging.
Because of all this, I’ve missed significant time at work and fallen behind on rent and bills. I am working hard to get back on my feet, but right now I need a little help bridging the gap.
Any support — whether through donations, sharing this fundraiser, or words of encouragement — means the world to me and my children. Thank you for helping us through this difficult chapter so we can move forward with hope and stability.
