About this fundraiser

I’m trying to bring a piece of my family history back to life.

This is my vintage 1962 Hagstrom Futurama II electric guitar, passed down to me from my grandad. It means more to me than I can properly put into words. It’s not just a guitar — it’s a connection to him, and to memories I never want to lose.

The guitar has been through a lot over the years, and while it’s still playable, it’s an unfinished project that needs proper restoration. A previous owner painted over the original lacquer, and there’s a fairly large chip near the base next to the jack input. The electronics have mostly been replaced, but the original electronics can be included — and one of the pickups (the neck pickup) no longer works, so it needs careful attention to bring it back to life properly.

To be honest: it works “enough,” but it needs real care and time to become what it should be again.

I’m raising £400 to help cover the cost of restoring it — repairs, electronics work, and bringing the finish back as best as possible — so it can be reliable, playable, and preserved for years to come.

If you’re able to donate, even a small amount, or simply share this fundraiser, I’d be incredibly grateful. You’d be helping me save something truly personal and meaningful — and give my grandad’s guitar the second life it deserves. ❤️
