I never imagined I would be asking for help like this, but I am currently without stable housing after fleeing a domestic violence situation. Leaving was necessary for my safety, but it also meant leaving everything behind.

As a single woman, I’ve had an extremely difficult time finding space in local shelters. I was able to stay briefly with a friend, but due to household boundaries, I’ve been asked to leave and have nowhere else to go.

I recently started a new job and am doing everything I can to get back on my feet. Unfortunately, I won’t receive my first paycheck for a couple of weeks, and I had to work a week “in the hole.” My car has recently broken down, so I’m currently walking over an hour each way just to get to work. I’m trying to hold on, but the gap between now and my first paycheck is overwhelming.

If I’m unable to stabilize my situation, I face the terrifying possibility of having to return to the person I fled from. I am doing everything in my power to avoid that outcome.

I am not asking for a handout—just a hand up. The support I receive will help me secure temporary housing, transportation, and basic necessities so I can continue working and rebuilding my life safely.
