  • Back to the ER :(

Last weekend, we had to call 911 again as Wes had a really bad nosebleed that wouldn’t stop, most likely due to the continuous oxygen + the 2 blood thinners he’s on. He told me he filled up almost an entire sheet in the ambulance & they told him we should’ve called sooner. They packed it in the ER but, unfortunately, he sneezed out the packing when we got home. Fortunately, the packing did stop the bleeding! We’ve been having issues with the humidifier on his continuous oxygen “flooding” his nose. He is on it again & we are removing the lid & putting back on, jiggling it, restarting it & anything we can think of when it malfunctions. I’m going to call the company to see if they have any suggestions because it’s definitely helpful in keeping his nose moisturized!

Our deepest thanks & gratitude for those that gave (mainly medical & wound care) items from our Amazon Wish List! All of the items on our list were purchased so quickly, we were in shock! Thank you for all the LOVE! We’ve already started using your donations & are so appreciative of your participation!

We are still in a difficult place financially with no light at the end of the tunnel yet. We aren’t receiving any additional financial assistance now, other than this fundraiser, & just didn’t have enough saved to get us through more than a few months. Wes’s catastrophic medical event, & the continued complications he’s had due to this event (I recently found out he had 7 cardiac arrests & a 1% chance of survival) are not allowing us to even begin to start recovering financially.

We are hopeful the interest rates will start to drop in the very near future so we can sell our home & hopefully have more equity to put into a smaller, one-story home closer to Wes’s work. Our interest rate is so low now, & not knowing how long Wes’s recovery is going to take, it makes the most sense to stay in our home at this time as an apartment would cost just as much as our mortgage payment.

Wes currently has dialysis (3 days/week), PT & OT (2 days/week), wound care (1 day/week) & doctor’s appointments (typically 1 day/week). Wes is still on short-term disability & is only receiving around 1/4 of his salary. I’m currently only able to work up to 2 hours/day & the division for the company I’ve worked for (for over 11 years) just sold to another company last week (great timing, right?!). My FMLA, for unpaid care of a family member, will end in less than 5 weeks & I’ll most likely be losing my job (& my insurance). Even though I want to work full-time up to 6 months for the new company during the transition, I most likely won’t have the time (thus the opportunity) unless multiple improvements occur in Wes’s condition quickly, including finishing up with dialysis & being able to walk with a cane (this is a PT goal) just to name a couple of things. Please continue to pray for Wes’s full healing! “Walk by faith, not by sight” is easier said than done! We do believe this!

The positives: The numbers for Wes’s kidney function continue to improve, so we’re hopeful he’ll be able to go off dialysis, hopefully in the near future. He was finally able to start PT & OT after feeling too sick & weak to go the past 2 weeks. He will start cardiac rehab soon which should’ve already happened but there’s been a lot of confusion & delays since Wes got discharged from the hospital (initially) & the change of a PCP & all specialists & therapists from Charlotte/Huntersville to Mooresville (closer to home).

Thanks very much for everything! You have no idea how much we appreciate your love, friendship, prayers, sharing & help! Please continue to pray for Wes & our situation.

For those that may have been in a similar situation before, please send me messages on Facebook messenger with any suggestions of how we can get financial help. Wes is only 58.

About this fundraiser

As many of you know, Wes Dudley suffered a massive heart attack on Saturday, June 21st, 2025. Since then, he has remained in the hospital and has faced an incredibly difficult medical journey. Before he was transferred to a rehabilitation center, Wes endured numerous complications—including a-fib, v-fib, and multiple cardiac arrests caused by severe electrical arrhythmias. His medical team had to shock his heart 55 times. He’s undergone more procedures and surgeries than we can count. Multiple organs have been affected, and he’s still on dialysis with no clear end in sight.

Wes was on a ventilator for quite some time, supported by a heart pump and other life-saving equipment during his stay in the ICU, where he spent over a month fighting for his life. He’s received multiple blood transfusions, including just last week. Recently, he underwent ablation surgery, and an internal defibrillator has been implanted.

Now, Wes is in the rehabilitation center, that is associated with the hospital, and he is working hard through intensive physical, occupational and speech therapy while continuing to receive the medical care he still needs. When he is eventually able to return home, he’ll continue outpatient therapy, dialysis, and frequent appointments with a team of specialists.

Throughout this time, Wes and his family have been navigating not only the emotional and physical toll of his condition but also the financial burden that comes with such extensive care. Many of you have reached out asking how you can help, and now there is a way.

We’ve set up a fundraiser to support Wes and his family with the growing medical costs, transportation needs, and daily living expenses so they can focus all their energy on his recovery. If you’re in a position to give, any amount—big or small—truly helps and means the world.

If you’ve already contributed or gifted in some way, please know how deeply grateful we are. Wes, his wife Libby, and their children feel your love and thank you from the bottom of their hearts.

And if giving financially isn’t possible right now, your continued prayers, encouragement, and positive thoughts are equally powerful and appreciated.

We also hope you’ll consider sharing this fundraiser within your own circles. It costs nothing, and spreading the word will make such a difference. Wes has always shown up for so many—family, friends, and colleagues alike. Now’s our chance to show up for him.

With heartfelt thanks,
