Dear Friends,
Zach is a 61-year-old ordained minister, and currently living in Tempe, AZ. He served as a pastor for over a decade and then a civil servant for the state of Arizona for another decade.
Zach was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis in 2014. This is a disease for which there is no cure. In addition to chronic pain in his feet and spine, he is also having cognitive and balance issues due to the lesions crossing over into his brain. In late 2025, Zach also spent several days in the hospital with a ruptured ulcer. He has recently learned that his health insurance will not be covering this stay, and is currently in the appeals process.
The balance and foot pain issues have affected his ability to walk for long periods. He is at a point where he needs a mobility scooter in order to live a somewhat normal life.
In 2025, even with excellent health insurance, Zach exhausted his Flexible Spending Account of $2,000 and had to pay over $5,000 out of pocket for coinsurance and copays. His only income is from Social Security Disability and a small pension from the State of AZ
It’s difficult to see our friend suffer in such a way, but to add financial worries on top of it is almost too much to bear. The scooter he needs, alone, is over $1,000, and that doesn’t even begin to address the medical debt.
We have set up a fundraiser for our friend. This is not through GoFundMe, but through another, equally reputable, site. If there is any way you can help Zach, we know he would be so appreciative. Even a few dollars will help him reach his goal.
Even if you aren’t able to donate, please consider sharing this with any of your friends who may want to help. Please do not post anything on social media, though, as there are many trolls out there. We don’t want to make any of this harder for him. Please feel free to reach out to either Sloane or Tara if you have any questions or concerns. I can assure you, all of the money collected will go directly to Zach for his usage. We just really care about Zach, and we want to help make his life a little easier.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and share with anyone you know who may be able to help our friend.
Please donate to comment.
