Help Me Build a Safe Place to Call Home

My name is Dominick, and I never imagined I would be in a position where I had to ask others for help. This fundraiser is one of the hardest things I’ve ever written, but I’m reaching out with hope and humility because I truly want to rebuild my life.

The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward securing a safe apartment, including my first month’s rent, second month’s rent, and the security deposit. Any additional support will help me purchase basic furniture and household essentials like a bed, table, chairs, cookware, and other necessities that will allow me to turn an empty apartment into a place I can finally call home.

Over the past several years, I’ve faced challenges that have tested me in every possible way. I live with epilepsy, which requires ongoing medical care and comes with expenses and responsibilities that I must continue to manage. At the same time, I’ve worked hard to overcome struggles with my mental health and addiction. I am proud to say that I have been clean for over five years. That accomplishment wasn’t easy—it took determination, support, and a commitment to changing my life one day at a time.

Being homeless has made every part of life more difficult. It’s exhausting not knowing where you’ll sleep, worrying about your safety, and trying to stay healthy while carrying the weight of uncertainty every single day. Living without a stable home makes it harder to keep up with medical appointments, maintain a routine, and focus on building a better future. A safe place to live would provide the stability I’ve been missing and the opportunity to continue moving forward instead of simply trying to survive.

My goal is not just to have a roof over my head. I want to get back to pursuing my education and continue working toward a career in EMT paramedicine. Helping others has always been something I’ve been passionate about, and I want to build a future where I can give back to my community by caring for people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Having stable housing is a critical step toward making that goal a reality.
