About this fundraiser

Help La'Mya Continue the Fight Against Rare & Aggressive Cancer

If you know La'Mya , you know she is kind and empathetic, but not afraid to stand her ground. Connecting with herself and others is a large part of what makes her who she is and she never fails to show up for the people she loves, even if it costs her.

At 19, La'Mya was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer (mucosal melanoma) and has courageously managed it with her care team through surgeries, procedures, and various forms of treatment. After her most recent scans, we received heartbreaking news: the cancer has spread to her intestines and is now classified as Stage 4.

Despite this setback, there is hope.

Her doctors have recommended a targeted therapy that could significantly slow the progression of her cancer and give her more time. If the treatment is effective, she'll likely need to continue taking it indefinitely.

The challenge is the cost. Without insurance, this medication can cost up to $26,000 every month.

Throughout much of her treatment, Medicaid has allowed La'Mya access to the care she needs. Unfortunately, she is at risk of losing that coverage. This puts much of her care and life-extending treatment in jeopardy.

We're asking for your help to make sure the financial barriers don't determine La'Mya future.

Every donation, no matter the amount, will go towards:
Medical treatments & medications
Insurance-related expenses
Ongoing cancer care
Travel to appointments
Food and care for her dog, Kiba.
Living expenses while La'Mya focuses on her health instead of overwhelming medical bills.

If you're unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with your friends, family, and community is just as meaningful.

Cancer is hard enough as it is, no one should have to wonder whether they can afford the treatment keeping them alive.

Thank you for supporting La'Mya, believing in her, and helping give her the chance to continue this fight. Your kindness, generosity, and prayers mean more than we can express!

With love,
La'Mya friends and family <3
