About this fundraiser

Hi, my name is Lori Coolidge. I’m writing this letter on behalf of a very dear friend, Dolores. I’m gracefully asking for financial support for the immense medical bills that have overwhelmed her. If you feel moved to help, God bless you and thank you.

Here’s Dolores’s story, told in my words, and I only pray that I do her ordeal justice. I’ve known Dolores for 25 years. I can’t help but be reminded of Acts 20:35, “ it is more blessed to give than to receive.” Serving others selflessly has brought her great joy, that’s just how Dolores lives her life, ready to give, and willing to share.

A single mother of two beautiful daughters, who escaped abused at the hands of an ex-husband. Her oldest daughter Nicole, became a certified nurses aid, married, and moved from Pennsylvania to Texas. Her youngest daughter, Samantha became a nurse, married and has two young sons  and resides in Maryland.

July 2014 a phone call came. A call my mother could ever prepare herself for. Your daughter is dead! Domestic violence at the hands of her own husband. A horrific and tragic death…

while grieving Nicole‘s death, 10 months later, Dolores is told she has benign fibroids, and a hysterectomy is scheduled. To the medical teams surprise, ovarian cancer is detected, stage three. Many rounds of chemo were endured, and all the while, Dolores continued her normal routine with grace. Including a 40 hour work week.  Great news came after her chemo was completed, no evidence of disease! Praise GOD!!

December 2018 a recurrence and more chemo. Doris bold and courageously continue to work. Cancer has no mercy. We may see visual signs of what cancer can do, like hair loss, loss of teeth, fragile, bones, but we don’t always see the emotional and financial effects it has on someone, however, Dolores continued to battle on with as much grace as she could muster.

December 2020, no need to remind us all of the Covid struggles. Dolores is given the news that a 2.5 cm tumor is taking up real estate on her left lung. The lobe was removed and chemo began once again. Another tumor was detected on her Hiler. More  Chemotherapy, radiation and immunotherapy. With chemo wreaking havoc on her weak body, a hip replacement was done and the remainder of her teeth had to be removed and dentures replaced what chemo destroyed.

Soon she will have no access to or from her home. Land owner, Township, state, lawyers, lies, and legalities were stacked against her and her home. Failure failure to sell her home in such a short period of time, left her with the option to move her home to a property she purchased. She used up her life savings to purchase the property and move her home.

During this property ordeal, she was notified that her oncologist who saved her life during her hysterectomy years ago, was no longer practicing due to his own illness. This devastates Dolores beyond measure. Period.

October 2025 cancer has reared his ugly head yet again. Squamous cell cancer in the right lung with lymph nodes involved. She sought an oncologist in Maryland. Now, radiation twice daily due to the severity of this fast growing cancer, along with chemotherapy and immunotherapy. With this oncologist and treatment in Maryland, she now has additionaltravel and living expenses.

in the 11 years since her daughter Nicole‘s death, and countless encounters with cancer and all of those treatments, Dolores has so triumphantly battled with no complaints, just resilience. She will continue to work and try to live life to the fullest as long as the Lord allows her to do so.

Her medical bills had become so overwhelming that I had to take action to help in any way that I could. After much prayer, this is where the Lord led me. Her circumstances may have depleted her financially, but it hasn’t taken her spirit, and that I am thankful for.

There is a passage in the Bible, that I hold dearly, as it speaks God‘s deep empathy. His willingness to comfort, and to restore those suffering from pain, sorrow, and spiritual wounds

”He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds”

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and thank you for any and all donations. Prayers and blessings to you all.
