Help Us Build a Safe Home After Losing Everything We Worked For
My name is Weston, and I am creating this fundraiser for my partner Kim and myself.
A few years ago, we believed we had finally found our forever home. We poured our savings, our time, and our hearts into a property that we thought would be where we would spend the rest of our lives. I personally put countless hours of labor into building and improving our home with my own hands. Everything we had worked for went into creating a stable future.
It wasn't just a place to live.
It was our dream.
We sacrificed, saved every dollar we could, and invested everything into that property because we believed we were building something permanent. Then, through circumstances beyond our control, we lost the home we had worked so hard to create.
Overnight, we found ourselves starting over.
At the same time, Kim was fighting a battle of her own.
Kim has lupus, an autoimmune disease that has severely damaged her kidneys. Today she depends on regular dialysis treatments, and her kidney function is approximately 6%. Every day requires strength, determination, and the will to keep moving forward despite challenges that most people will never face.
Today we live full-time in a 1978 Dodge Commander RV on our property.
When most people hear "RV," they picture modern campers with large living rooms, slide-outs, and plenty of space. Our reality is very different. This RV was built nearly 50 years ago. There are no slide-outs and very little usable space. The main walkway is only about two and a half feet wide and runs nearly the entire length of the RV. Passing each other inside can be difficult.
Living off-grid adds another layer of challenges. We rely on generator power and do our best to manage extreme conditions. During the summer the RV can become unbearably hot. During the winter it can become bitterly cold. We make it work because we have no choice, but it is far from ideal, especially for someone undergoing dialysis and living with serious health issues.
Despite everything, we have continued pushing forward.
Recently, we were blessed with a permanent piece of property where we can finally put down roots again. For the first time in a long time, we have a place where we can rebuild. What we lack is a suitable home to place on that property.
I am currently attending college and working toward a degree in Cyber Security. My goal is to build a career that allows me to work remotely from home so I can continue caring for Kim during the difficult days when her health requires extra support. I'm working hard to create a future where we can be self-sufficient and stable, but right now most of our resources go toward medical needs, transportation, daily living expenses, and simply surviving.
We are not asking for luxury.
We are asking for a chance.
Our goal is to purchase a safe and livable 5th wheel that can become a permanent home on our property. A larger and more stable living space would mean more room for daily life, better protection from the weather, and a safer environment for Kim as she continues her medical treatments.
Every donation, no matter the amount, helps us move one step closer to that goal.
If you cannot donate, sharing our story may help us reach someone who knows of a trailer, a resource, or a person willing to help.
After losing the home we built with our savings and our own hands, we are trying to rebuild our lives one piece at a time.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, for sharing it, and for giving us hope.
With gratitude,
Weston & Kim
