On March 19 2026 my whole world changed. I gave birth to my son Liam. What we thought was going to be a normal birth turned into me needing to have a c-section because his heart rate kept dropping with every contraction I was having. Once they got him out he needed oxygen right away. I got to see him for about 2 seconds before they took him to the NICU. Once they got me all fixed up and he was stable enough I was able to go see him. He was hooked up to a couple machines tubes and wires. All in all we thought everything was ok.

Then 2 days later we got the news that broke us. Liam had to be transported to a bigger hospital because he had a heart murmur and a heart condition called tetralogy of fallot. So within the hour the transport team came from St. Christophers hospital for children in Philadelphia and I was being discharged early to go with him. Once we got there it was nonstop for the next 2 months. Tests scans blood work machines feeding tubes speech physical occupational therapies ivs oxygen and then what landed us to the final decision of him needing heart surgery to have a shunt placed. Once he had surgery everything seemed to fall in place he was doing a lot better. Unfortunately his feeding hasn’t improved like everyone had hoped. So dad and myself got trained on how to place a feeding tube and do feeds with the pump. After 2 long stressful heartbreaking months finally on May 22 2026 we were able to bring our baby boy home.

Now the real struggle has begun. With me being out of work and dad being the only one working bills are starting to pile up. My car is the only means of transportation for the both of us and having to take Liam to all his appointments and driving to Philly almost once a week and his pediatrician every week it’s putting a lot of wear and tear on my car. We don’t have the money for a second vehicle. We are barely making ends meet. Our main priority right now is Liam. As in the up coming months he will have to go back for a second surgery for his full repair of his heart.

Im not asking for a free hand out and I don’t even want to be doing this but unfortunately desperate times call for desperate measure.
