A Summer Orchestra Clinics the interview
When did this all start?
2017, 10 years in 2027 ( next year)
How many have participated over the 9 years? Over 700 students and adults.
How many attend your end of week concerts? Last year over 400 attended and the concert was broadcast worldwide and watched in 17 different countries and all over the US. 227 people tuned in on line.
Why did you start A Summer Orchestra Clinics: I started it as a way for community musicians and students to come together over the summer and work on their playing skills, make connections, have great time learning great music and take their new or improved skills back to their communities. It’s a way of strengthening live community music. It’s also the most affordable Orchestra Camp around.
How do you keep the participant cost so low? The camp fee is only $25.
Yep. We’re not about huge fees.
We are a non profit with no salaries. We have a board of directors. We spend the entire year raising funds for the clinic. We have several large in-kind donations, as in the facility is donated by First Coast Baptist Church, we receive a grant from the Women’s Club of Jacksonville, a VyStar grant and anonymous donations. But we could always use more financial support. We are a 501c3 public chairing.
