Help Put Books in the Hands of Children in Ghana

The Books for Ghana Project is dedicated to increasing access to culturally relevant children's literature by providing books written by African American authors to children in Ghana.

The featured book is Paul and Patty Bake a Cake, a delightful children's story written, illustrated, and edited by African Americans. The story follows Paul and Patty, a brother and sister who eagerly take on the challenge of baking their mother's famous pound cake. Along the way, young readers learn about teamwork, responsibility, and basic measuring concepts.

The book also includes a family-favorite pound cake recipe, encouraging parents and children to spend quality time together while creating lasting memories in the kitchen. The cost of the book is $14.99.

Your donation helps us purchase and distribute books to schools, libraries, and children throughout Ghana, giving young readers the opportunity to see themselves reflected in the stories they read.

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps place a book into the hands of a child and fosters a lifelong love of reading.

Donate today and help us build a bridge of literacy, culture, and connection—one book at a time.

NOTE: Paul and Patty Bake a Cake is currently out of print but remains available through print-on-demand by the author. Donations made through this website directly support the Books for Ghana Project.
