A bustling street, a hurried pace,
We rarely pause, we avoid the face.
Beneath the towers of glass and stone,
Some sleep in shadows, and sleep alone.
A cardboard roof, a biting wind,
A place where choices have thinned and thinned.
It isn’t a choice that they made to fall,
But being caught by a merciless wall.
We rush to work, we buy, we save,
We count the pennies our labors gave.
Yet sometimes doors will simply close,
And life brings storms that nobody chose.
But here tonight, we break the mold,
We trade the shadows for warmth and gold.
Not gold of coins, but the human kind,
The open heart and the willing mind.
For every dollar, every hand,
Helps build a bridge where a soul can stand.
It takes a village, it takes a spark,
To light a path through the winter dark.
Let’s change the ending, rewrite the plea,
Provide the key to the lock and the tree.
Together we rise, together we mend,
And prove to the stranger: I am your friend
