I am creating this fundraiser to honor Jordan,a strong and courageous young woman, and to celebrate a beautiful life that meant so much to me and to so many others. After being reunited with my daughter just five days before she passed away suddenly on August 4, 2026 has been extremely painful. I feel so very grateful that God gave me the opportunity to spend time with her and to let her know how much I love her before she went home to be with the Lord.
I am now facing the heartbreak of this loss while trying to make sure Jordan is remembered with the love and dignity she deserves. This has been an incredibly painful and emotional time, and I am doing my best to navigate the days ahead while holding onto the memories we shared.
I was estranged from my daughter for the two years prior to her death.
The support from this fundraiser will help me cover memorial expenses, give me some stability during this difficult time, and make it possible for friends and family to come together in remembrance of Jordan. More than anything, I want to create space to honor Jordan’s memory and the impact she had on our lives. Any support helps. If you are able to give, share, or keep me in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean so much to me. Thank you for helping me honor Jordan and for supporting me through this heartbreaking loss.
In April of 2021 my son illegally filed and obtained a motion with the probate court granting him to become the guardian of my 32 year old daughter, his sister.
Even after he gained guardianship I continued having regular contact with my daughter with no restrictions. At least not until after I picked up my daughter for a visit in September 2024. We got together for my birthday and had fun spending the day together before we had to get her back to the group home where she resided before her curfew.
Just a month a half before this I had moved to a smaller town away from Wichita to escape a volatile domestic violent relationship. After returning home I still called Jordan and she called me too but we had our last phone conversation within a week when she said “Momma I have to go I will call you back in a little bit.” It was 20 months before I was given any information on her whereabouts. On May 4, 2026 my son called me and told me that if I wanted to see Jordan I probably should get to the North Kansas City hospital because the doctors were not sure if she would make it through the day she was just that sick.
It was the longest 5 1/2 hour drive not knowing if your child will hang on long enough for you to get there but when I arrived I was simply not prepared for what I was about to see. I walked into her room and her eyes were open wide, mouth gaping open and a ventilator going in through her throat to help her breathe and then it was explained to me that the machine with all the medicines they were pumping in was the only thing keeping her alive and that her body was just too tired and probably would stop responding to the medication and she would pass.
I immediately put my hand around my daughters hand a have her a gentle squeeze and leaned down and said “Jordan Momma is here and I love you” and I began to pray. I would kiss her forehead and tell her to keep fighting and not to give up. I told her how beautiful and strong she was all night long and even into the next day. I reached out to my church in my town and to a church in Wichita that I enjoyed watching their services on television and asked for them and their church to please keep my Jordan in their prayers.
Jordan made it through that day and that night too! It was the next day when the doctor revealed that Jordan had become septic from the feeding tube that had been placed in her stomach and that she had no chance of surviving without them going in and cleaning out all the stuff that ended up going outside of her stomach instead of inside it and it would be the next morning before they could perform the surgery. So she made it through the second night and to the surgery. It was at this time I prayed to God and told Him that I trusted Him to care for my baby and that I truly knew He would do what was in her best interest. I continued pleading with Him to keep het alive so she could experience the beautiful joys of the world that she hadn’t even come close to knowing or understanding. I ended by telling Him if He took Jordan home to be with Him that although I wouldn’t like it I would be okay with it because I know it was what He thought would be best. She survived the surgery.
That afternoon after her surgery my son informed me that he had allowed me to come see Jordan but now she had the surgery and was going to be okay he would give me a day or two to stay with her but then I had to go and if I did not the hospital would have me removed. I was absolutely devastated and hurt. The hospital staff treated me very poorly while I was there and it began to make me uncomfortable and they had no qualm in making me feel this way. So I went ahead and left that night. When I got home I cried for days and could barely pull myself out of bed to care for my nine year old pup.
For the next couple of months I would contact my son and check on how Jordan was doing and on July 25, 2026 I made my weekly text checking in with my son on Jordan when he told me he was with her and with talking to Jordan he said I could come to Kansas City to visit her. I was so elated and simply floating on cloud nine all the way up to the time I was able to leave and get there which was on July 30th.
I left early the morning of July 30th just so excited because I hadn’t seen my daughter for almost two years and as a mother your heart begins to ache when you cannot have contact with your child but it starts to feel like a small piece of your heart is falling off each day when you know they are sick and recovering from a serious illness and you are being restricted with your contact and involvement in their recovery.
My daughter looked so much better when I arrived to her room and we both were so happy and excited to see each other again. We talked and she told me a little bit about things that had happened since I saw her last. Then we began making plans with our first and most important goal was to get her better, stronger and healthy enough to get her out of that hospital bed and back home. I had to leave that Sunday to get home because I left my pup in the care of someone in my building and I needed to return to him but I had plans to get done things situated at home and then Baden and I would return on that Thursday, August 6th to begin working with her, support her through her recovery and to get to know each other again. I was so excited and knew it would be challenging but as most mothers we will do anything for our children! I was thinking of moving from the town where I live to somewhere close to the facility she was in so I could get there each day to work with her.
It was Sunday August 2nd when I kissed her and said goodbye but only until Thursday I told her. Forty eight hours later on Tuesday August 4th my son called me to tell me that Jordan had just passed away. I was in shock and could not believe what I was hearing. As I am sitting here and writing this out I know I still am in shock! Each day when I wake up it takes a little time before my mind reminds me that Jordan is no longer here and now I have a funeral to arrange. It is really hard to do this when you have just lost a loved one but much harder when it is your young child only 32 years old that had so many years left and so many beautiful joys and wonders in the world yet to experience and explore!
I am on a very tight and fixed income and when it comes to picking up the body and beginning to prepare the body for what the family wants the company doing those preparations wants and needs to be paid in full first. I understand that but it would take me months and maybe even a little more than a year to save the amount I am needing to make this happen for my beautiful and precious baby girl.
My plan is to get her buried above my mom, her grandma, in her plot. It may sound odd but I just know I will feel Jordan is safe and put alone somewhere by herself and maybe not “settled”.
So I am seeking out funding to help cover the costs of having her body moved to the funeral home, the body prepared, a nice urn and the gas it will take for me to travel back to Kansas City to take possession of my daughters remains and then back home.
Please I appreciate any and all donations! Big or small they will ALL be seen as a blessing because every amount will add up and bring me that much closer to bringing my baby home!
I still know that I am in shock and have not been able to make sense of all that has taken place but I know I still trust God and that since He took her home He knew it was what was best for Jordan and I appreciate Him for the time I had with my daughter and that He made it possible for me to spend a great four days with her before she passed away! Now if I can just get her back home with me I can then plan and save the money to do the second part of what I wish to do for her.
Thank you for taking time to let me share a bit of my story with you and thank you for helping Jordan get home!
God bless you and if I may ask for one more thing please keep all the mothers, fathers and children in your prayers that each and everyone of them knows the Lord and is building a relationship with Him! It is very comforting to know when you are feeling overwhelmed by all that needs to be done and feel a little frightened that you will never be alone and you will make it through. God will be by your side holding you up and giving you what you need to get through this!
