Help Baby Laena’s Fight Against Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome

Our sweet baby girl, Laena, has been diagnosed during pregnancy with Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome (HRHS), a rare and serious congenital heart defect where the right side of her heart has not fully developed. After she is born, Laena will need specialized care and a series of major heart surgeries to help her heart function and give her the best possible chance at life.

We are so grateful for the incredible doctors and medical teams who will be caring for our daughter, but this journey comes with many unexpected challenges. Because Laena needs to be delivered in Orlando near a specialized cardiac team, we will have to be away from home while she receives treatment.

Both parents will need to take unpaid maternity and paternity leave for approximately three months so we can be by Laena’s side during her surgeries, recovery, and hospital stays. We also have a young son at home, and while we prepare for this life-changing journey, our bills and daily expenses continue.

We are raising $8,000 to help with the costs associated with Laena’s care and our time in Orlando, including:
- Hotel stays and lodging near the hospital
- Food and transportation while away from home
- Household expenses while we are unable to work
- Medical-related expenses and unexpected costs throughout Laena’s journey

Our greatest wish is to be fully present for Laena during this fight without the added stress of wondering how we will cover basic necessities.
