My name is Nyachel Babuoth and I am writing from a place of pain I never imagined I would face. Two weeks ago, I lost my daughter, Nyamal Latjor, at only 24 years old. On September 03, 2026, a sudden illness took her from me without warning, without time, without mercy. One moment she was here… and the next, she was gone.
I am still trying to understand how I am breathing without her.
I came to the United States in 2012 with my younger children, but Nyamal was left behind in Africa in a refugee camp because of circumstances none of us could control. Every day since then, I carried the weight of her absence. I woke up with it. I went to sleep with it. I worked with lawyers, begged for help, contacted Senator Murkowski’s office, and pushed through every barrier placed in front of me. For more than a decade, I fought to bring my daughter home.
And finally, in 2025, she arrived. I will never forget the moment I saw her again — the way she smiled, the way we held each other, the way she said “Mama.” After so many years apart, God gave her back to me.
I never imagined she would be taken so soon…
Nyamal was not just my child — she was my joy. She was gentle, patient, and full of grace. She carried love in her hands and kindness in her voice. She survived hardships that would break most people, yet she still gave light to others. She was sunshine. She was hope. She was everything good. To lose her so suddenly after a long wait… it has shattered our family.
This year has already brought us so much loss. Nyamal’s passing has pushed us into a crisis we cannot carry alone. I am trying to prepare her burial, support my children, and survive this grief — but the financial burden is too heavy.
I am asking for help with:
• Burial and funeral costs
• Lost income and urgent needs caused by this tragedy
Her burial will take place in the next two weeks. I want to honor her the way she deserved — with dignity, love, and peace.
If you are able, please help me lay my daughter to rest. Your support will go directly toward her burial and helping my family stand again after this unimaginable loss.
Thank you for reading my story. Thank you for holding my daughter in your heart. Thank you for standing with us during the darkest moment of my life. May God bless you for every prayer, every thought, and every act of kindness.
