My name is Kileena, and I am a mother of six who is fighting to stay in nursing school and build a more secure future for my family.
After completing my prerequisites and working hard for years, I was accepted into the Practical Nursing program at Community College of Rhode Island. I have already started my nursing classes, and becoming a nursing student has been one of the proudest moments of my life.
This journey has not been easy. I have balanced school, work, motherhood, household responsibilities, and raising six children while continuing to pursue my education. In Spring 2026, my hard work was recognized when I made the Dean’s List.
Unfortunately, after taking two summer courses while waiting for my nursing-program decision, I experienced an academic setback. I earned an A in one course but missed three assignments in the other and received an F. Because of that setback, my financial aid appeal was denied until I can show additional academic progress.
Now I am facing an urgent situation: I earned my place in nursing school, started the program, and am working toward becoming an LPN—but I may have to stop because I cannot afford this semester’s tuition and required expenses out of pocket.
As a mother of six, my income is needed for rent, utilities, food, transportation, and my children’s daily needs. After covering those necessities, I do not have enough left to pay thousands of dollars in tuition, books, uniforms, supplies, and other nursing-program costs.
I am asking for help staying enrolled and completing the program I have worked so hard to enter. My total fundraising goal is $6,000, which will help cover:
- Tuition balance: $4,500
- Books and supplies: $750
- Uniforms and required equipment: $500
- Transportation and other school-related expenses: $250
- Total goal: $6,000
Your donation will help me pay my immediate tuition balance and cover required nursing-school expenses so I can continue attending classes and working toward my LPN license.
This is more than a personal goal. Becoming an LPN will help me create greater financial stability for my children and allow me to build a career in healthcare while serving others.
Every donation matters. A gift of $5, $10, or $20 can help me move closer to staying in school. If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser with friends, family, coworkers, or community groups would mean just as much.
I have come too far to give up now. With your support, I can remain in nursing school, complete my Practical Nursing program, become an LPN, and create a stronger future for my family.
Thank you for reading my story, supporting my journey, donating if you are able, and sharing this fundraiser. ❤️🩺🎓
