Please Help Us Rally Around Mango ❤️

I’m starting this GoFundMe for someone very special to me and his family because they are facing something no family should have to face alone.

Over the past year and a half, Mango has lost more than 100 pounds while dealing with serious health issues involving his pancreas and bile duct. It has been an incredibly long and difficult road filled with doctors, procedures, setbacks, and a lot of uncertainty.

At the end of August, Mango went in for surgery to remove a cyst on his pancreas. Unfortunately, during the procedure, doctors discovered a blockage in his bile duct, which prevented them from safely completing the surgery. The cyst could not be removed, and Mango & Amanda were once again left searching for answers and for another option, all while Mango was still working to provide for his family. 

After talking with several doctors and getting multiple opinions, they finally found a pancreatic surgery team willing to take on his complicated case and perform the surgery he needs.

This next surgery is extremely major.

The procedure is expected to take approximately 7–8 hours. The surgeons will be reconstructing portions of his bile duct and small intestine, working on the affected area of his pancreas, removing the cyst on his pancreas, and creating a Roux-en-Y connection to redirect bile flow around the blockage.

He will be facing at least 7 days in the hospital, followed by an estimated 8 weeks away from work to recover.

His doctors have been honest with the family that this is a very serious surgery. There is hope that it could greatly improve Mango’s health and quality of life, but there are also significant risks. They are going into this not knowing exactly how his body will respond.

And that’s where I’m hoping we can come together for them.

Mango is going to have a long road ahead. Between the surgery, hospital stay, medical expenses, medications, travel, everyday bills, and being unable to work for nearly two months, the financial burden is going to be overwhelming, especially with the holidays coming up! 

I’m asking our friends, family, and community to please help take some of that weight off their shoulders.
