Asking for help is not in my vocabulary, but my dad needs it. I am trying to raise some money to help cover the costs of dad’s care and ultimately his end of life expenses. Hospice nursing is covered 100% by Medicare but the facility is not covered. They required $2,800 up front and that covered the first week.

We have no idea how long he has left. The latest update from the hospice nurse said he could hold on several hours or several days. Everyone is different but there are common end of life signs.

Dad wanted to go home and hospice could come in. I really wanted to bring him home to make him happy and calm him down. Not to mention it would save them money. However, my step-mom does not want him to go home. I suspect she is afraid she cannot help him if he needs it after hours.

I do not wish this on anyone. I encourage you to share with your family every single detail you want from a medical standpoint, DNR, funeral, cemetery etc. If you have a WILL share that while you’re coherent and able to have a discussion.
