The funds raised are to help offset the cost of a new wheelchair (his current wheelchair is broken and cannot be repaired) pay for his medical premiums, which have risen 630% this year since the Affordable Care Act subsidies are no longer, Doctor co-pays and his medications. Robert is a hemorrhagic stroke survivor, epileptic and suffered a traumatic brain injury. As a result, he now suffers from vascular dementia and hypertension. Robert ingests 20 life sustaining medications per day at the cost of over $1000 per year.. I have been his full-time Caregiver for the last 7.5 years. I had to give up my profession to care for him full-time. Robert is age 61 and not Medicare eligible. We are low income. He is on a waiting list for the Healthy Connections Medicaid Waiver List for Community Long Term Home Services. Due to budget cuts it could be anywhere from 15 months up to 5 years before a slot opens for services.
We will be forever grateful to receive these necessary funds.
