My name is Patricia Fleming. I am the mother of a young man who was incarcerated on Riker's Island for 6 years without a trial and died a few days after he was released. While he was at Riker's Island, my son, Patrick was physically assaulted on multiple occasions  by correction officers and developed testicular cancer. He continued to be treated horribly even after he was diagnosed with cancer and eventually he was released just a few days before his untimely death at the age of 27 years old. My heart still breaks when I think of my son, Patrick. This fund is to help pay for medical expert witnesses and medical reports. My lawyer has been fighting the City of New York and medical defendants without any compensation for years and we need help with obtaining medical experts and medical reports.  The sooner we can pay the medical expert witnesses the sooner the case can move forward. Nothing will bring back my beloved son, but if we can bring the city to account maybe we can prevent  similar abuse to other inmates in the future. This fund means alot for me to help get justice for my son and other families who are going through what I am going through.
