My name  is Courtney Sanders. I was hospitalized for 2 weeks, for what started out as a toothache. My face had swollen so bad. I went to the ER where they ordered a CT scan. It was revealed that I had a deep space neck infection due to 2 teeth that had to be removed. I was rolled into surgery within to hours of arrival. The  Dr informed me that if i had waited just 1 more day the infection would have gotten to my brain. The infection began to mutate, causing multiple surgeries to remove the infection, during my 2 week stay. I just recently found out the infection has returned due to missing and broken teeth. However, we caught the infection early this time. No facial swelling. He prescribed antibiotics. But he did tell me the infection would continue to come back until I have all my teeth removed. Additionally, I will need dentures or implants. I am a SS and medicaid recipient on a fixed income. I have no dental coverage.

I almost lost my life the first go around. To think I could face that again is scary.
