On October 6, 2026, at 9:37 p.m., our beloved Roy Montez, 64, lost his battle with cancer. Roy was diagnosed in February 2018 and fought a courageous battle for years, facing every challenge with the strength, determination, and resilience that so many of us knew and loved him for.
Roy leaves behind his loving wife, Melissa Montez, with whom he shared 43 wonderful years of marriage, and their four children: Roy Jr., their oldest; Linda Smith; Andrew Montez; and James Montez. His family was his world, and above all else, Roy was the best dad in the world. He loved his children unconditionally, led by example, and taught them the importance of hard work, perseverance, and always being there for the people you love. His love, strength, and guidance will live on in his children forever.
Roy was more than a husband and father. He was a dedicated Service Supervisor who spent many years with Greystar, where he built relationships, shared his knowledge, and made a lasting impact on those around him. His passion for maintenance was something he took great pride in, and that passion carried on through his daughter Linda and son Andrew, who followed in his footsteps.
Roy loved his family, loved his work, and most importantly, loved helping other people. He was the kind of person who would face any challenge head-on, never backing down from a problem and always willing to lend a helping hand. If something needed fixing, Roy would find a way. If someone needed help, he would do what he could. He approached life with determination and a heart for others, leaving a lasting impression on the people fortunate enough to know him.
We are coming together to raise funds to help Melissa and the family with the expenses associated with Roy's Celebration of Life, scheduled for October 25, 2026. Unfortunately, Roy did not have a life insurance policy or other financial assistance to help cover these expenses.
Losing someone you love is never easy, and the added financial burden during such a difficult time can be overwhelming. Our hope is to ease some of that burden so Melissa and the family can focus on honoring Roy's life, sharing memories, and celebrating the incredible husband, father, friend, and coworker he was.
Any donation, no matter the amount, would be greatly appreciated and will go toward the Celebration of Life expenses. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page and keeping Melissa and the family in your thoughts and prayers would mean just as much.
Roy spent so many years taking care of others, solving problems, and showing up when people needed him. Now, we have an opportunity to show up for Roy's family during one of the most difficult times of their lives.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support as we come together to honor Roy Montez and celebrate a life that meant so much to so many.
Rest peacefully, Roy. You fought a long and courageous battle, and now you can rest. You will forever be the best dad in the world to your children, a loving husband to Melissa, and a friend to so many. Your fight may be over, but your love, strength, and legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew you. You will never be forgotten.
