For over 30 years, my closest friend has been one of the most caring, selfless people I know and has been there for me in ways I didn't know I needed. Recently, she made the difficult move to Shreveport to become the sole caretaker for her aging mother, putting family first. 

Soon after relocating, her life changed dramatically when she was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis, a rare and life-threatening infection that required emergency hospitalization and multiple surgeries.

Because of the severity of her condition, she has been unable to work and has lost her income while facing an overwhelming medical recovery. She is now dealing with ongoing medical follow up, wound care, medications, nerve pain, and the long road toward healing — all while her partner Koko helps care for her and her mother while traveling between households to manage daily responsibilities and work full time to support them.

The financial burden has become more than anyone should have to carry alone. Medical expenses, transportation, household bills, recovery supplies, and basic living costs are quickly adding up during a time when she should be focused solely on healing.
