Anyone who knows Skid knows he’s not the type of person to ask for help. He’s stubborn, hardworking, and would much rather figure things out himself than ask anyone for anything. That’s actually why we’re putting this together for him and his family.
Skid currently lives in Kansas with his wife and their two daughters. After a lot of thought, they’ve made the difficult decision to pack up their lives and move to Chicago for a fresh start and a better opportunity for their family.
This move means a lot more to them than simply changing where they live. His wife has some ongoing health concerns, and one of their biggest hopes is to be closer to more healthcare options and doctors who may be able to provide the care and resources she needs. They’re also looking forward to giving their daughters new opportunities and being surrounded by family and a strong support system here in Chicago.
They’re essentially leaving the life they’ve built in Kansas and starting over. Anyone who has made a move like this knows how quickly the expenses add up—moving costs, transportation, deposits, getting into a new home, replacing things they can’t bring with them, and simply getting a family of four settled while Skid gets established with his new opportunity.
Skid didn’t want to make a GoFundMe because he doesn’t want anyone thinking he’s looking for a handout. He isn’t. He’s making this move because he believes it’s the right decision for his wife and his daughters, and he’s willing to work his ass off to build a better life for them.
As his family, we just want to make that road a little easier.
Anything raised will go directly toward helping Skid, his wife, and their girls with the costs of relocating from Kansas to Chicago and getting established here. There is absolutely no pressure to donate. If you can’t contribute, simply sharing this would mean just as much to us.
Sometimes even the people who never ask for help deserve to have people standing behind them.
We’re proud of Skid for taking this chance and putting his family first. We’re looking forward to having them closer to home and watching them begin this next chapter surrounded by people who love and support them.
Thank you to everyone who donates, shares, reaches out, or simply wishes them well. It means more than you know.
