About this fundraiser

❤️ UPDATE ON DARRELL — AND THANK YOU, FORNEY! ❤️

After posting the story about Darrell and the honey that was stolen from him, I went over to tell him just how many people had reached out wanting to help.

I don't think either one of us expected the response we received.

Darrell was incredibly appreciative and honestly touched that so many complete strangers were willing to help him replace what was taken. He is such a kind and humble man, and while we were talking, he shared something with me that I didn't know before.

He told me that he had been hoping to sell his honey not only to make some money, but also to pay for some much-needed repairs to his RV.

He has been taking cold showers because he doesn't have hot water, and there are several other things with his RV that need to be repaired.

Hearing that really got to me.

This man wasn't standing on the corner asking anyone for a handout. He was out there trying to sell his honey and earn the money himself to take care of the things he needs. Then, while he was gone for just a few minutes, someone came along and stole his entire inventory.

Because so many of you have reached out asking how you can help, and after learning more about his situation, I decided to start a fundraiser for Darrell through Give A Hand, rather than GoFundMe, because Give A Hand is a free fundraising service.

My original goal was simply to help him replace the honey that was stolen. Now I'm hoping that maybe, together, we can do a little more — replace his inventory AND help this sweet man get some of the repairs done to his home so he can have hot water and some basic comforts again.

No one should feel obligated to give, and no amount is too small. If you can't donate, sharing his story is just as appreciated.

I am absolutely overwhelmed by the kindness people have already shown. What started as a post written out of anger over something terrible has turned into a reminder that there are still so many GOOD people in our community.

Thank you to every single person who has reached out, offered to help, shared the story, or donated.

❤️ Let's get Darrell his honey back, get him back in business, and hopefully get that hot water running too! ❤️
