On June 20th, my life changed in a way I never imagined.
Â
For months, my health had been steadily declining. I was losing weight at an alarming rate—over 100 pounds in 2 months without any explanation. I was constantly nauseated, vomiting, growing weaker by the day, and struggling to make it through even the simplest tasks. Then came the internal bleeding, rectal bleeding, and episodes of passing out. I knew something was seriously wrong.
Â
When EMS had to bring to the hospital June 20th, I was hoping for a quick visit… Instead, I was admitted to the hospital after the emergency room physician told me there were “too many red flags for cancer.” Those words changed everything.
Â
What I thought would be a quick hospital visit turned into sixteen days—from June 20th until I was discharged on July 6th. Started at San Juan regional June 20th- July 2nd then Presbyterian Hospital July2nd - July 6th
Â
During those sixteen days, I underwent countless blood draws, scans, procedures, and consultations with specialists. Every day brought more uncertainty. Several of the doctors caring for me shared that they are highly concerned that I may have leukemia, and additional testing is being done to determine exactly what is causing everything I’ve been experiencing. While I don’t yet have a confirmed diagnosis, living with that possibility hanging over my head has been one of the most frightening experiences of my life.
Â
As difficult as the physical pain has been, the emotional and financial toll has been just as overwhelming.
Â
My husband had to leave work to come home and care for me and our children while I was hospitalized. Because of that, we lost our family’s income at the exact time our expenses began growing. Between household bills, fuel for traveling to medical appointments, lodging when I need specialized care away from home, and everyday living expenses, we are struggling just to keep our heads above water.
Â
No family plans for something like this. One day you’re living your normal life, and the next you’re lying in a hospital bed wondering what your future will look like.
Â
Although I was discharged on July 6th, my journey is far from over. I still have appointments with specialists, more testing, and a long road ahead as my medical team works to determine the cause of my symptoms and whether leukemia or another serious illness is responsible. I continue to battle weakness, nausea, pain, and the uncertainty of not yet knowing exactly what comes next.
Â
If you’ve prayed for me, checked in on me, or simply thought about me during this difficult time, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your love and encouragement have carried me through some of the hardest days of my life.
Â
If you are in a position to help our family financially, any amount—no matter how small—will help ease the burden we’re facing. Your generosity will go toward keeping our bills paid, covering travel expenses, fuel, lodging for medical appointments, and helping our family stay afloat while I focus on my health and getting the answers we so desperately need.
Â
Most of all, I ask for your continued prayers. Please pray for wisdom for my doctors, for clear answers, for healing, and for strength for my husband, our children, and our entire family as we walk through this incredibly difficult season.
Â
Thank you for standing beside us. We are taking this one day at a time, holding onto hope, and believing that brighter days are still ahead.
Â
I hope to one day look back on this chapter not as the end of my story, but as the beginning of my fight—and my healing. ❤️
