Help Our Family Honor My Mom, Janet Mable Raye Dugger

On July 12, 2026, my beloved mother, Janet Mable Raye Dugger, passed away at the age of 75. She dedicated her life to helping others through her work with Cherokee Nation Career Services, behavioral health, youth programs, and the Healing to Wellness Court. She believed in second chances, offered guidance to those who needed it most, and touched countless lives with her compassion, strength, and determination.

Cherokee Nation generously covered most of my mom’s funeral expenses, and our family is deeply grateful for their support. However, there are still remaining funeral expenses and many other costs that come with settling her affairs.

I am now responsible for packing up and clearing out my mom’s home, but I had surgery in April and cannot safely lift heavy boxes or furniture. My husband is currently battling cancer and recovering from brain surgery, so he is also unable to help with any of the lifting or moving. Because of our physical limitations, I will need to hire help to pack and move my mom’s belongings.

In addition, my mom left behind several beloved animals. Unfortunately, I am not able to keep them, so I am working to make sure they are cared for and placed in safe, loving homes. Their care has also added unexpected expenses during this difficult time.

Funds raised will help with:

* Remaining funeral and memorial expenses not covered by Cherokee Nation.
* Packing, moving, and clearing out my mom’s home.
* Storage, transportation, and other costs associated with settling her affairs.
* Food, veterinary care, and rehoming expenses for my mom’s animals until they can be safely placed.
* Allowing me to continue caring for my husband while managing all of these responsibilities.

This has been one of the most difficult seasons of my life. I am trying to honor my mom’s memory while caring for my husband and handling everything that comes with losing a parent. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help ease the financial burden and is sincerely appreciated. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with others would mean so much to our family.

Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support. We are grateful for every act of generosity as we honor my mom and work through this difficult time.

With heartfelt gratitude,
