À propos de cette collecte de fonds

Dear friends and kind-hearted supporters,

I’m Jasmine Perry, living in Ahoskie, NC, and I am the mother of my 8-year-old son, Alan. To cut a long story short, we were healthy and happy until Alan turned 6, a birthday he had to celebrate in the intensive care unit :(

After falling ill with what seemed like a common viral infection, Alan ran a high temperature until, one morning, he woke up barely able to stand. His coordination was completely impaired. We rushed to the hospital, but they found nothing new. Thinking it was perhaps a lingering viral infection, they just gave him an IV drip.

When he woke up the next morning, he suffered a terrible epileptic seizure; a few hours later, another one hit, and Alan was rushed right back to the intensive care unit. A few days later, he was transferred to a specialized clinic, where he was intubated and placed in a medically induced coma, as the seizures wouldn’t stop, occurring every 5–10 minutes.

After a long struggle and nearly two months spent in intensive care, we’ve been trying our hardest to get back on our feet for the past two years.

At present, the seizures are better controlled. But heartbreakingly, Alan has lost almost everything – his speech, his awareness, and his physical control. That is why intensive rehabilitation is desperately needed.

We have now set up the Alan Perry Support Fund. We have to cover the heavy costs of his ongoing therapies, and the annual cost of his rehabilitation amounts to around $24,000. This financial burden is simply too heavy for us to bear alone, so we are pleading with anyone who is able and willing to contribute.
