Every child deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, and experience the joys of childhood. For Benny, every milestone has required extraordinary courage.

Benny was born with an incredibly rare genetic disorder called Cutis Laxa, caused by genetic mutations that have affected nearly every aspect of his health and development. From the very beginning of his life, he has faced medical challenges that most people could never imagine. Despite countless hospital stays, surgeries, therapies, and procedures, Benny continues to face each day with remarkable strength, determination, and an inspiring smile.

Benny lives with multiple complex medical conditions, including hereditary spastic paraplegia, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), skeletal dysplasia, chronic restrictive lung disease, autism, learning disabilities, glaucoma, cataracts, and severe feeding difficulties. He relies on a G-tube for nutrition and previously underwent a Nissen fundoplication after struggling with chronic vomiting and serious gastrointestinal complications.

His heart journey has been especially difficult. Benny was born with several congenital heart defects, including pulmonary valve stenosis, atrial septal defect (ASD), ventricular septal defect (VSD), and dysplastic heart valves. Over the years, he has undergone multiple open-heart surgeries, leaving him with lifelong cardiac needs and a chest deformity resulting from those lifesaving procedures.

As Benny grows, so do the challenges he faces. Progressive neuromuscular conditions have made standing and walking increasingly difficult. He wears AFO braces, participates in ongoing physical, occupational, and speech therapies, and works incredibly hard every day to build independence while attending life-skills and learning-support programs at school.

His determination is inspiring—but his family’s challenges continue to grow.

Caring for a child with such complex medical needs requires constant travel to specialists, therapies, hospital visits, and medical appointments. Benny’s family works tirelessly to ensure he receives the care he needs while managing the emotional, physical, and financial demands that come with his condition.

As his mobility declines, their greatest needs have become:

• Home modifications to make their living space safer and more accessible.
• A reliable, accessible vehicle capable of transporting Benny, his wheelchair, medical equipment, and adaptive devices safely to his many appointments.

These are not luxuries—they are necessities that will allow Benny to receive the medical care he depends on while helping him remain as independent as possible.

Through every obstacle, Benny’s family has never stopped fighting for him. They celebrate every achievement, no matter how small, and continue to give him every opportunity to thrive despite overwhelming challenges.
