À propos de cette collecte de fonds

A couple of months ago, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. We managed to catch it early and I had surgery to remove the cancerous testicle.

There's a decent chance I will need to get at least one round of chemotherapy because the type of cancer I have is quite fast-growing. The good news is that even if it has spread, it should still be fully curable with the right treatment.

Luckily, the hospital was willing to perform the surgery and bill us afterwards because I do not have health insurance. We already owe $17,000 for the care I've received so far. And the best-case scenario is that we are about halfway done with what this will cost. I will need to go to the oncologist about once a month for blood tests and scans for the next several months to see if the cancer has spread and is growing again. And if it is, then I will need chemotherapy. Which will be even more expensive.

I recently heard a friend from Europe ask what happens in the US when someone who doesn't have insurance or a lot of money gets cancer. Unfortunately, it seems that this is our only option.

So, we are asking all our friends, family, and compassionate strangers to please help us with the financial burden this has placed on us. In addition to the costs of the medical care itself, I have also been unable to work for over a month now. Bills and rent still have to be paid. My beautiful wife Claire has been taking time away from her small business to shuttle me to and from medical appointments multiple times a week for months now. We are in great need at the moment. But we are not afraid, because we also know that we have a great community of friends and family.

So please, if you have anything to spare, we would greatly appreciate any and all help!
