Thank you all for the incredible support and love you have shown Esther over the past few days. She truly feels encouraged by everyone’s kindness and prayers during this difficult time.
As a reminder, we are still urgently searching for a stem cell donor match for Esther. We encourage everyone to consider registering with the donor registry to see if you may be a match.
Even if you are not a match for Esther, there are thousands of patients currently waiting for a life-saving stem cell donor. By registering, you could have the opportunity to help save someone else’s life.
The testing process is completely free, simple, and painless — it only requires a quick cheek swab. If you are identified as a potential match, additional lab work would be completed. Prior to donation, donors receive daily injections of a medication called filgrastim for five days to help increase the number of stem cells in the bloodstream. The donation process itself is very similar to donating blood.
All travel expenses, including flights, hotel accommodations, meals, and medical costs related to the donation process, are fully covered.
Most importantly, becoming a donor gives someone a second chance at life.
