We need a donor

Today marks Day +28—the day we have been anxiously waiting for. Unfortunately, we are sharing news that we had hoped would be different.
Esther’s blood work has shown low donor chimerism, confirming the concern that her body has not been able to successfully engraft the donor cells. While this is incredibly disappointing, her medical team already has a plan moving forward. Esther will be preparing for a second stem cell transplant with a new donor.
The search for her next donor is currently underway. If you have not yet joined the donor registry or been tested, please consider doing so. You could potentially be the match that Esther—or another patient waiting for a transplant—desperately needs.
In the meantime, Esther will continue receiving growth factor therapy, donor lymphocyte infusions, and supportive care while we work toward finding a suitable donor and preparing her for a second transplant.
Although this is not the outcome we prayed for, we remain hopeful and focused on what comes next.
We also have some exciting news to celebrate: Esther has been medically cleared to attend her friend’s wedding next month! Her medical team has developed a plan that will allow her to travel with appropriate precautions in place. After everything she has endured, she is beyond excited to spend some much-needed time with her friends and have something joyful to look forward to.
Right now, we are asking for prayers that the right donor is found quickly, that Esther remains strong and stable as she prepares for another transplant, and that she is able to safely enjoy her upcoming trip.
Esther continues to be incredibly grateful for every message, prayer, meal, visit, and act of support she has received. Please continue reaching out with words of encouragement—hearing from the people she loves means more than you know.
