For those of you who did not see the first post, I will briefly share the reason for our fundraiser, provide an update on what has happened since then, and explain why we still need help. First, I want to thank the anonymous person who donated $200. Almost three months ago, my entire world broke. On May 12th, my husband was shot in the throat right in front of me while we were sitting in our van in the parking lot of our apartment complex. This happened following an altercation earlier that day. A man had approached our 16-year-old daughter while she was taking the puppies out to use the bathroom, making her uncomfortable enough to tell her father. My husband asked the man not to speak to our daughter since she is only 16. The man became rude, pulled out a gun, and threatened to shoot my husband. He eventually put it away, and we left to run some errands. When we got back, he walked up to our van and shot my husband. We lost him the following day. He was an amazing man who took very good care of us. That day, we lost our family and our vehicle. The apartment complex put an eviction notice on our door the very next day. He was the only one working. I cannot put into words the damage it caused me to watch that happen right in front of me. We have since moved, and I was fortunate enough to get on Section 8, but it is a process that takes time. I am trying to get myself and our daughter into therapy, but bills are piling up, and my phone is about to get shut off on the 5th. I understand that bills need to be paid and I know what I am supposed to do, but I am struggling mentally. I just can't seem to get my focus back. I am stuck on that day. I have flashbacks 24/7, brutal nightmares, and I keep seeing him sitting in our van bleeding. It won't stop. I have panic attacks and I am an absolute mess. That man was the love of my life, and we were inseparable. I will never understand why I was cursed to watch that happen to my favorite person. This is truly my hardest goodbye. Now I am alone out here—a widow with a 16-year-old, two puppies, bills, and no car. My washer is broken and my dryer needs work, things he would have fixed immediately. The thing is, I am broken, and he was always my fix-it. I am asking for help, please, with bills, my phone bill (which I need for my college classes), household essentials, hygiene products, puppy food, and funds to get my washer and dryer fixed. I am doing the absolute best that I humanly can, but right now, it is just not enough.
