Our goal is to purchase the land we live on from the family estate. At least 6 of the 10 acres we have cared for for the last 26yrs. As well as replace some of the old buildings due to age and Mother nature.
As we have been the sole caretakers of the estate cattle for the last 8 years. Putting everything we have saved into caring for livestock that belonged to the family estate, with no financial help whatsoever. Or plans of repaying us for what we spent. That once belonged to the Matriarch of the family name. After putting everything we have into the care of these animals, Physically, emotionally, and financially. We are now forced to purchase the ground my family has nurtured for most of our lives. In A VERY SHORT TIME FRAME. Obtaining a loan is not possible at is time. Due to the hardship we was forced into.
I have cared for our kids and livestock for the last 27yrs. My husband is the sole bread winner leaving most of the day to day operations for me to handle with little left for us.
Over the years we have raised 4-H & FFA projects. From Cattle to sheep to poultry and several general projects. To help put food on the table.
Through this our daughter is changing the focus of our operation from Cattle to Dairy Goats. To hopefully adding Commercial goats in the future and maybe a line of soaps and lotions.
Our middle son will be going to school after his time in the Army to become an Ag Teacher and getting back into meat rabbits in the near future.
And our oldest child is working towards owning his own mechanic shop for semi's and semi trailers. While working a full-time job and raising his own family.
Now that the kids are getting older I am currently looking into going back to work for someone else after 25yrs, with no luck to date. While still volunteering with our FFA Alumni, FFA chapter, and assisting with our 4-H Club.
My husband of 35yrs, an Army Veteran, local 4-H leader, and farm hand to our daughter. He's looking to slow down and spending more time with our growing family. As we all know age is not always kind.
Before we know it the grandkids will start their 4-H careers. And we plan on being some of their biggest supporters. As well as continuing to support our community and it's youth.
