Latest update as of Jul 17, 2025

  • Day 14

Since my last update John has had some pretty good progress. He still hasn’t woke, but he has opened his right eye, blinked a few times, and lifted his head. Yesterday he got the thumbs taken from his throat and they did a quick procedure to place a trach in which is more beneficial for him and will keep from infections from developing on him. They had mentioned cleaning out his bronchial airways to open them up. His been fighting with pneumonia. Fever went away after the couple days but it came back and the fever was way worse. At its high it was 108. They packed ice around him and removed his covers. Once it started to come down they removed the packs but kept the covers off him.its been around yesterday.
Today they had him propped up and he’s turning his head a lot more now and he’s moving his right hand and leg more. They’ve taken him off the oxygen our mom said but not sure if it’s just to monitor to see how he’s doing on ]his own or they’re keeping it off. Nurse Gabby gave him a hair cut today and trimmed his facial hair. Mom says he looks good again.
Tomorrow he will be going into surgery. They got imagines they needed so they can go in and removed the feeding tube. John still hasn’t woke a long road ahead of him and in a way im glad he still sleeping cause he’s sleeping through a worst of the pain from this.i have to look at it as if his body continues to rest cause its got a lot of work to be doing to get healed so he sleeps. Whatever get my brother back home to our family. First before that happens he has to wake up and start the therapy stuff.

Again id like TO THank THose of You donating, sending in your words of kindness and prayers, and To those of you that are only able to pass this Fundraisers link along so that more people can help if they do choose to. We continue to be grateful to all. Thank You & God Bless!

About this fundraiser

I wanted to thank every thats helping with John and my parents off the top. Hes had a very rough time but he’s fighting. I want to also thank those that have passed Johns Story along so that others may read and help if they’d like to. Passing this along is as every bit of important as the donations. Without this fundraiser for John wouldn’t be a success. Oh and all the prayers everyone is sending. I believed prior in the power of prayer and ive doubted God at times but I’ll never do that again. I believe. We’re still along ways before John can even go home. On day 10 he opened his eye thats not injured to was blinking wearily and lifted his head. He don’t stay awake once he’s done it but he’s trying. Hes been moving his arms and legs more. He caught a spell with pneumonia though. They had his fever down then after a day it came back with a vengeanc. It’s was up to just over 108 degrees. Yesterday the nursing staff was finally able to get it down to 102 and just now i got report that its down to around 100 degres. Si slowly but surely.

Not sure of how long his insurance at work will last and trying to get him on disability to cover his medical after that but before that happens it’s the wait for a response. So if anyone could find in their hearts to help with Jons cause and continuing to keep my parents at the hospital with him tmy family would be very grateful. My parents have been put through the wringer with be misinformed several times and it was not good news that they was being told. Bless their hearts. We’ve all been going thru a tough time but not one more than John is. Im not skiing anyone to break the bank or anything and if all you can spare is a couple dollars then thats just puts him closer to our goal. It’s all the same to me. John will know of each and everyone of yous kindness through and i know knowing my brother he’d want to thank you all personally if he is ever able to do but we already know that his damaged part of the brain is damaged enough that he will never be able to drive his car or his truck again. And the motorcycles will be parked as well.

MSY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!

Original Post:

On Thursday July 3, 2025 my brother left home for working at around 5:30 am. By 5:40 he was found in the road unresponsive, but alive.  A deer ran out from what can be told by the scene of accident and struck him. He was riding his bike that morning. He was taken by ambulance to one hospital and they took him by Life Flight on into Springfield, Mo. To Cox Medical South where a Neurosurgeon took him straight into surgery to remove a blood clot and they found there was bleeding on another layer of the brain. They had to leave part of his skull off to allow the swelling to give him a chance. His other injuries are a colapsed lung, broken clavicle and shoulder blade, one of his eye orbitals and tempral bones are fractured. He developed a fever overnight on July 6 due to Pneumonia. His fever has gone down but now he’s showing no signs of response when tests are ran when they pinch him or poke his nail beds and he’s not moved at all the last 2 days. His oxygen had been turned down to 40% so most of his breathing he was doing on his own but now they’ve had to up his oxygen. As of today he still has not waken up and we fear we are going to loss him. My parents have been since the day it happened and they are elderly now. they can’t bring themselves to live him cause at one pint we know he was able to hear us and the hospital staff says that being able to hear your family and knowing you’re not alone is good for the patient to heal. My parents live over an hour and half away from the hospital and can’t take that drive daily with my dad having so much pain and vehicle rides make it worse and my mother has had a stroke about 2 years ago now and the driving isn’t good for her either. They’ve been staying at the hotel attached to the hospital at a discounted rate but still thats expensive for being on Social Security.  they’ve been eating from the cafeteria here and there what little they can to save money just to be able to stay with him another day. Some days they get something from a vending machine.  they both need to have their strength to make it through this themselves.  This has been a rough year and having my brother going through this is not what any of us wanted. He’s so many things to so many of us. He’s not only a Son and a Brother, but he also a Daddy, a Cousin, Nephew, Uncle, a Papa, a Friend, and to me not only my brother but he’s been My true life Angel the last few years just making sure i was making it through life in my hard times. He’s just so much more than all of that. To this family he’s the World. Hes made such an impact on and in so many peoples lives that he’s met. He loves life and was finally truly and happily living life to the fullest then this happened. It’s has completely shattered our world. So im asking and I don’t do this easily…im asking to find it in your hearts to help keep My parents by his side through this, he’s there first and only Son. Them being there and him hearing their voices aids him in his healing. God Bless. And Thank you all in advance.
