About this fundraiser

My name is Geof. In 2013, my life changed in a way I never expected. I became seriously ill due to a pancreatic tumor, which led to a splenectomy, multiple surgeries, and ongoing complications. Recovery wasn’t just physical — it reshaped how I look at work, creativity, and providing for my family.

During that time, I lost everything I owned. Between medical issues, complications, and the long road back, I had to start over from nothing. Tools, materials, stability — all of it was gone. It was one of the hardest chapters of my life, especially as a father of four children.

Despite that, I’ve never lost the desire to build something with my hands. Wood carving has always been grounding for me — taking a rough piece of wood and slowly shaping it into something useful and meaningful. It represents patience, resilience, and the idea that even broken or discarded things can be transformed into something strong again.

I’m raising funds to help me get back into wood carving by purchasing essential tools such as wood chisels, carving knives, a carving axe, hook knives, sharpening stones, and a proper working station. These tools will allow me to safely and effectively create items like hand-carved spoons, walking canes, and other functional wood pieces.

This journey isn’t about shortcuts or sympathy. It’s about rebuilding — showing my children that even after illness, loss, and setbacks, it’s possible to create, learn, and move forward with purpose.

Every donation helps me take a step closer to restoring this craft and building something positive from a difficult past. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser means just as much. Thank you for reading my story and for supporting my journey.
