My best friend Amanda has been fighting for her health for over four years.
She’s seen countless doctors, only to be given the runaround; misdiagnoses, temporary fixes, and no real answers. For over a year, she was put on prednisone, which only masked the real issue instead of treating it.
After years of pain and uncertainty, things took a heartbreaking turn. On September 4th of this year, Amanda had to have her eye removed.
Right before the surgery, she was started on azathioprine (an immunosuppressant), but it makes her extremely sick every time she takes it. And now, despite everything she’s already endured, the implant from her surgery has caused another infection. The doctors believe antibiotics won’t fix it, meaning she now has to undergo another surgery to remove and replace the implant.
They plan to switch her to IV infusions for immunosuppression, and we’re hopeful this will finally prevent these complications from happening again.
But in the meantime, the reality is harsh.
Between nonstop doctor visits, constant pain, and major surgeries, Amanda has been unable to work. Her regular bills and her medical bills are piling up, and it’s becoming overwhelming.
What breaks my heart the most is that Amanda is genuinely one of the most kind-hearted people I’ve ever known. Even with everything she’s facing, she never complains. She would still give the shirt off her back to anyone who needed it.
If you’re able to donate, it would mean the world. If you can’t, simply sharing her story helps more than you know.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. 🩷
