This update is one that I was hoping I wouldn't have to make because I was hoping that Benjamin would never contract this virus, but our little guy started showing signs of being sick last week with a nasty cough and difficulty breathing, so we took him to Children's ER to find out that he tested positive for RSV. The situation worsened over weekend, so they intubated Benjamin last night to try and help him rest a little bit and be able to fight this thing off a little easier...he's on lots of meds and steroids right now to try and kick this virus, but it is definitely kicking his butt...please send prayers and good vibes or whatever it is that you do to help our kiddo get through this! ❤ He is a trooper, but he's tired and rightfully so! 💔 And as far as hospital stays go, we can use all the help we can get financially right now because these hospital trips add up fast! ❤❤❤

About this fundraiser

Dear friends and supporters, we come to you with a heartfelt update on Benjamin’s journey, which has been a long and trying time on our family. Many of you have reached out wanting to know more and expressing your concern and eagerness to help. Please help support Benjamin’s medical fund.

Our son Benjamin was born in June of last year with Osteogenesis Imperfecta Type II (Brittle Bone Disease) and spent almost the entire first year of his life in the NICU. We were able to finally bring him home three weeks before his first birthday! He has overcome so much in his first year of life, from barely moving, being on SEVERAL pain medications, being on a ventilator and not expected to live past a few days to now just being on a small amount of oxygen, moving around like CRAZY and no pain meds a year later! Little man is doing so well and we are so incredibly proud of him for kicking butt and surpassing all of his doctors' expectations!

As you can imagine, all of that time in the hospital, and now all of his medical equipment, supplies, doctors visits and therapies cost quite a bit of money and are all starting to add up rather quickly. Bills have started to come in from the hospital stay, his monthly supplies are not completely covered by insurance, and he has MANY doctor's appointments and therapists that he will need to be seeing for at least the next few years that will cost money to see. We may also need to get things for him in the future, such as hearing aids, wheelchairs, bracing or rods, most of which are either not covered by insurance or very little is covered. All of these things, combined with traveling two hours to the hospital and two hours back home almost everyday to see him for a year, have added up and have really caused some financial strain for us. We would greatly and humbly appreciate any donations that can be made for Benjamin’s medical expenses. All of the money raised will go towards his current and future medical expenses. If we raise much more than expected, the remaining amount will be split between a college fund for Benjamin and a donation to the OI Foundation so that they can continue to do their amazing work to help people like me and Benjamin! If you are not able to donate, please share this with family and friends! Thank you! ❤
