Hi it’s Roxie. I’m currently a Junior at Alexandria City High School, and I have this awesome opportunity that can greatly impact my life. This winter I applied to be part of Boston University’s 2026 Summer College Immersion program. The criteria for admission was very strict and included letters of recommendations, essay, advanced academic coursework in high school, GPA, an extracurriculars. As you can see in the video, I was so surprised that I got in.
I’ve been working really hard throughout my high school career. This year, I am taking three AP courses, a Dual Enrollment course at the community college and I’m in multiple school clubs (Key Club, DECA, and Students Demand Action). I also got into the National Honor Society. My GPA is 4.6. I’m working really hard to create a path of success for myself. I believe this BU summer program, will help that path.
It’s a three week long summer program where I will take college classes during the day and engage in social activities in the evenings. I will live in a dorm as the cost includes room and board. It’s scary to think I’ll be away from home for three weeks. I’ve never been away that long. However, I know this will be a life-changing opportunity for me. It’s a great experience to know what it’s like at the university and to take college classes, make connections. Also, Boston University is exciting because it is a top school for my undergrad which I’ll apply to this fall. I think it will help my chances to get in because they’re very selective. Here is information on program. https://www.bu.edu/summer/high-school-programs/academic-immersion/faq/
A downside is they don’t offer any scholarship or financial aid for the program and it is pretty expensive. A family friend suggested maybe putting it out there to our network and see if we can get some support accessing this opportunity. I promise I will make the best of this opportunity and everything that it offers me towards my future.
If you would like to help out, any amount would be amazing. And please repost this to your own networks. I know every little bit will help. And I also promised that I will pay it forward throughout my life.
