I've never asked for anything like this before so this is hard. I have a close female friend who has Stage 4 Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She is a single mother who has raised 3 girls, her youngest just turned 12, the two older ones are own their own. She is a nurse by profession and has always cared for others, so this is all new and strange to her, having to rely on others for help. She was in remission for a couple of years, but with Covid she had to take the vaccine. Unfortunately the vaccine did not do her any favors and she contracted covid and then her immune system went into shock, the Non Hodgkin's came back and reared its ugly head. She was able to get treatment and get it back under control, unfortunately last winter in 2024 she she contacted the Flu and then Covid once again. She continued to work and continued treatment with monthly infusions. However the treatment was not working and her oncologist made a change in her treatment plan and she became to sick to work, she worked in a retirement facility caring for elderly sick people and she could not risk exposing them. She was forced to go home in June of 2025. Eventually her employer dismissed her and she no longer had a source of income and of course insurance went away as well. She held on as long as she was able with help from her two grown daughters, but was forced to move out of her home and moved in with her two eldest's daughter's grandmother. As time went on and no source of income, her car was repossessed and her phone was shut off. She filed for unemployment and it was denied and she was told to file for disability. She has since filed for disability, but has yet to been notified if it has been granted. I say all this because she is truly a great mother, woman and nurse and this cancer has taken over her life. I personally have given her close to $15,000.00 to help with treatments and other things. The infusions quit working and recently she found out she has lesions on her kidney, pancreas liver and gal bladder. She is due to go under the knife this Friday so they can remove the inflamed gal bladder and remove as much of the lesions as they can and biopsy them to verify the type of cancer she is burdened with.
Folks I have no idea what they will find nor does she, but she has a 12 yr old daughter who depends on her and 2 daughters in the early 20's who have fought tooth and nail to help raise funds for her treatments and other myriad of health needs this past months. They have virtually put their lives on hold to help their mother and they will not give up nor are they going to let her give up. The fight is on, but unfortunately as i mentioned she does not have health insurance and no source of income because she is unable to work and the state of Illinois has yet to approve her for disability benefits. If ever there was a person who needs help and prayers I cannot think of a more deserving person.
I do not know how effective this might be or if anyone would willingly give, prayers are most welcomed, but to continue to fight and have a chance at beating the Cancer she needs funding for the surgery, cancer treatments and medication and her day to day needs. Lift this woman up in your prayers and her children too.
Lets help her beat Cancer, Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma should not be a death sentence.
Thank you
