Hi! My name is Candace M. I’m a 36 year old female I have been diagnosed with a very rare cancer especially for people under the age of 40. The cancer is Multiple Myeloma/Plasmacytoma. I also have extensive bone damage. I have started my treatment cycle and i am on cycle 2 with 2 more cycles left. I will then proceed to Emory for transplant surgery. I have been living off my saving for almost a year. I have been denied my STD policy which I payed for every pay check. The 3rd party benefit’s stated in writing I did not have enough evidence to prove my disability claim which is not true. For almost 1 year I have been in constant pain! I have no support system! I’m covered in lytic lesions from my scalp to my legs. My bones are fracturing at a fast rate. Earlier this week I had an accidental fall and now my right arm is fractured. My car broke down and is in the shop and I do not have the funds to get my car. I go to the infusion center twice a week. I will be starting radiation soon which is 5 days a week for 3 weeks. My mental health is declining rapidly. I’m basically a 36 year old woman trapped in a 80-90 year old body! I have been a nurse for 16 years and all I want is to get back to work but cancer has taken so much from me I don’t know if I would be able to go back! This has been the worst year of my life. I pray so much everyday! i would love to network with anyone that is within my age.
