UPDATE - Coryn has had a couple of appointments with the eye specialist so wanted to provide an update. Her right eye which is blurry is full of blood so they were unable to see to the retina and confirm any sort of detachment. Shots have been given in both eyes and she has had one follow-up which shows the blood still there. Doc did say it could take awhile to clear up if it's going to on its own. The shots should prevent more blood vessels from bursting. Her next appointment is on 12/18 and she will be getting another round of shots in both eyes. They will access the blood pooling and will determine if surgery needs to be done to extract the blood. We are hoping for best case scenario which would be her retina intact once they can get a visual. She will be looking at surgery on both eyes hopefully in January to fix damaged blood vessels. Shots will need to continue monthly in both eyes for the rest of her life. We are staying optimistic that she will get some vision back in the right eye and her left eye will stay stabilized after surgery. It's been a struggle and Coryn has been very scared, but is staying strong as she always does. Thank you for all the thoughts, prayers and help as she navigates through this.
Thank you again,
Alisha
My daughter Coryn is needing financial help. She is currently without health insurance, I will start with that. This girl, not even 30 yet, has been dealt a lot in her life. As a teenager she was not only diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, but also Mosaic Turner's Syndrome (which includes the inability to have her own children). All 4' 8 ½" of her has been battling day by day to stay healthy. She is unable to keep a steady job because of her health and she just keeps fighting and fighting. This year she was diagnosed with Retinopathy and had started getting shots in her eyes to slow the progress. Then she lost yet another job and had to stop the shots because she lost her insurance. A couple weeks ago one of her eyes became blurry. Not wanting to cause their family anymore medical expenses she didn't go to the eye doctor until today. The pictures of her eye revealed her retina detaching, not fully, but very close. She is going to be scheduled for surgery, but until then cannot make any sudden movements or lift anything. She just started a new job to help her family and get health insurance again (after 30 days) and now this. The doc can't say for sure if the blurriness can be fixed and also said there is a chance of it going completely black. This is heartbreaking news and for a Mom this leaves a very helpless feeling. Financially, I am unable to help and I hope there are enough people out there that can ease her and her husbands burden a little. She's an amazing human and doesn't deserve all this.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Alisha (Coryn's Mom)
